Community Service Opportunities for Fall 2015
Sci Kids · A VCU student run organization that stems out of the Mary and Francis youth center at Lobs and lessons. Their goal is to lead elementary school students in weekly science experiments to broaden the young mind’s knowledge of science. · They offer volunteering every Thursday and Friday. At 4-5pm on Thursday and 5-6pm on Friday. You are more than welcome to go twice a week every week. However, community service hours specifically for pre med society at VCU will only count on the days listed below. · Attire: Casual nothing inappropriate (ie. Tight skirts, crop tops ect…) · Location: Mary and Francis Youth Center (Lobs and Lessons) directly next to Cary street field and the Gym. It’s a brick building behind the tennis courts. United2Heal Ronald McDonald Community Service Opportunities for Spring 2015 Feed More: · Last Monday of each month from 1pm - 4pm. Here, Pre Med Society members will be able to give back to the community by helping clean this historic cemetery. This is a very fun, laid back experience and is a great way to meet other members in Pre Med Society, while helping out the community. · Attire: I would suggest wearing jeans or pants and a t-shirt or sweatshirt depending on the weather. Tools and gloves will be provided. · Location: Type in Bullher Road on GPS or into phone and then follow signs for cemetery. Specifically, they help families that have children with severe illnesses. They realize that illness can take a huge toll on the family, thus, they set up these houses where the families can come for guidance and a safe haven to ultimately strengthen these families. · Volunteer Dinners: o We would create the dinner and bring all the ingredients to the house and cook at the house in their fully-stocked kitchen. Here, we would meet at 12pm the day of at the commons loop and drive to the Ronald McDonald House with ingredients.
